It's only Week 2?!

Image
In some ways it feels like I've been at Cambridge for months and in other ways I am still getting acclimated to the British and distinctly Cambridge way of life. But somehow, we've only just completed Week 2! Week 2 has been a highlight as it was filled with a lot of moments that you can only get in Oxbridge. On Monday, the crew in Queens' booked some college punts and tested the waters. I was not brave enough to try to steer the ship, but from what I've been told, it's harder than it looks. The views on the River Cam are stunning! Our next door neighbor is King's College and seeing the chapel from the backs might be one of the top views in Cambridge that I've seen thus far. Luckily, no one fell in King's Chapel in the back Tuesday brought my MBA College Dinner at Magdalene College. The business school split the class up and placed us in different colleges for these dinners. I have to say that the vibes at Magdalene were immaculate. There are no light fi...

The Calm Before the Storm

Image
Before classes started, I had the chance to go to Paris for the 20th Space Generation Congress (SGC). Being a part of the Space Generation Advisory Council has been a highlight over the past few years - I have made wonderful friends from across the world and learned more about the space industry globally. What more could a gal ask for? The best part was getting to catch up with a fellow Emerge(r) from NASA...we even (unplanned) both wore the same outfit from SGC 2019  :) 2019 2022 After SGC, it was time for orientation and the start of Michaelmas Term! We ended up starting a day late, as Monday was a bank holiday for the Queen's funeral, which I fittingly watched from Queens' College. The first day of school was packed - we started off with a group picture, and then spent the rest of the day in lectures. It's been a while since my brain has had to do that, and I was definitely tired by the end. Can you spot me? Everyone that I have met is extraordinary. Every. Single. Pers...

Change

"Change alone is unchanging." -Heraclitus I still remember sitting in philosophy class during my senior year of high school and hearing this phrase for the first time. It has stuck with me all these years because, duh, it's obvious, and it's also quite profound. Needless to say, over the past month this statement has been living rent free in my head. For the second time in less than two years, I prepared to pick up my life and put roots in a new place. This time though, it was to move to a new country , not a new state. Brought some baggage with me too... The evening that I landed, Queen Elizabeth II passed away after serving 70 years as the monarch of the Commonwealth. Minutes after her death was announced, bells were rung throughout Cambridge to mark her years as the Crown.   The next day,  I took the train into London. Partly to see some dear friends from CO, and partly to see a nation in mourning. As I got off the Tube at Green Park I was stunned. Police were ev...
