Berries and Cream

I can't seem to stick to my self-imposed schedule...

I spent the start of the week back home in Houston, to wish both my father and America a Happy Birthday! It was a pretty lazy two days spent in the Texas heat. We ended up going to see the new Indiana Jones movie and only one of us fell asleep at the cinema. Enjoyed time with Auggie and even had the chance to visit Hannah and Navin's new house on the 4th! Time at home is always special and it was nice to sleep on a real bed for a few nights too.


Wednesday meant an early morning flight to Calgary with a day-long layover before finally landing in London on Thursday morning. I may be traveled out at this point? It's been a lot of time on planes. It's difficult to say.

Thursday night meant a reunion with some of my favourite MBAs for a lovely dinner. We only spilled two drinks the whole night, not saying who was responsible for that. One of my favourite things about Dom is that she always brings the party with her! She always has a game for us to play and this night was no exception. So lovely to be back with these people. Looking forward to a summer of fun.





On Friday two dumb-dumbs decided to head to Wimbledon early in the morning to join the queue to try to get tickets for the tennis tournament. We hit the queue around 8:15 am and didn't have a ticket in our hands until 3:17 pm. No regrets, but I don't think I will be doing the queue again. Once we were inside, we ran around Wimbledon - did some shopping, watched some tennis, and even tried strawberries and cream. The strawberries and cream were a little overhyped for me personally. The tennis was fun to watch - Rebecca was telling me who everyone was - apparently, we saw some famous tennis players walking by too!





Since we had an early morning flight on Saturday to Berlin, we only stayed on the ground for 90 minutes but worth every second! Looking forward to seeing the US Open in a few months now!

Going to keep this week brief and next week will be allllll about our International Business Study Trip in Berlin.

I have avoided writing this blog post because it is the end of a chapter in many ways, and quite frankly, I am not ready to turn the page. Funemployment

I wasn’t sure if I would ever pop on here again, but here I am. Funemployment is a term that has risen in the past few years to refer to the unemployed time frame for people who choose to enjoy it. I’m over here still trying to find the fun part. Kidding, kinda. Of course, it’s nice to sleep in and see where the day takes me. But, I miss a steady paycheck, and even more so the fulfillment I have had when working.  A popular question has been asking me what it’s like to be back ‘home’. (Avid blog readers will know that home  is a bigger word for me nowadays.) But, I’ve responded that it’s like putting on a pair of jeans for the first time after wearing shorts for months, or wearing heels after wearing trainers. Everything fits, but it just feels weird for a bit. There’s an adjustment period to get your body used to those things again. Coming back to Texas has felt like that. What is a legacy?  In the Hamilton musical, Lin Manuel Miranda said that it's 'planting seeds in a garden that you never get to see.' Visiting Egypt for the first time, I couldn't help but marvel at what a legacy these people made. Could they have known that their structures would have stood the test of time and made people question everything.  Seeing these marvels,  I wonder, what are we leaving behind for the next generations. What lasts? What survives? Are we just playing a really long game of telephone? I still remember a conversation with my best friend from college talking about our goals in life and mine was to be in a history book one day, I said I would even take just being an author of one. I realize there’s a lot of ego in that statement. But I don’t think it’s bad to want my time on this earth to be impactful. Nostalgia

It's been over a month since I've hopped on here. Partly because it's been a quiet season of life and partly because I am trying to sort out the next chapter of life - and that's been filled with confusion, rejection, and frustration. BUT This past weekend took me back to Houston, to celebrate not one, but three friends, weddings! Each friend near and dear to my heart, each from a different and beautiful chapter of life, that I am still privileged to call a friend. First up was Julia, aka Cupcake. We first met at the Houston Museum of Natural Science as Ecoteen volunteers back in high school - I feel like we initially bonded because we both didn't know anyone else in the program so connected because of that. One week, while supporting the Triwizard Tournament, we were the keepers of the golden egg and we were stationed in the gems and minerals hall for an hour and had a chance to become friends. Thirty-One

I was packing up and moving across the pond to Cambridge this time last year. This year, I only headed to the East Coast. Tuesday marked the beginning of my internship with Blue Origin. Over the next three and a half months, I have the opportunity to work with the strategy team and learn more about the business side of the aerospace industry. This is totally uncharted territory for me, so I'm a healthy mixture of nervous and excited to see how it all plays out. Everyone I've met so far has been lovely and I look forward to working with them more during the internship! The real highlight of this week came on Friday. I went to see Rebecca and Cody for the weekend in NYC! As I was about to hop on the metro to DCA, I found out my flight was canceled. But thanks to the speedy work of Rebecca, I was able to get on a train an hour later and make my way up the East Coast. Rebecca and Mike were kind enough to pick me up from Penn Station and drop me off in Brooklyn at Cody's.   Satu
